The Usual Suspects

So I thought it would be a good idea for me to fill everyone in on the "usual suspects" you can seen strewn about the floor at any given time. They are really important members of the household and deserve some recognition.

First up is the newest additions: Milly's toys she got for Christmas.  The first one is a special "Christmas Dinner" that I got from Target.  It consists of some dead vermin with a green rope attached (veggies??), corn on the cob, a baked potato, and a dinner roll.  A holiday feast!! Unfortunately, they didn't have the option of getting a stuffed goose (a major marketing mistake if you ask me).
This lil guy is brand new as well. Notice he still has the best part: his tag.  Moments later this was ripped off.
This was a Mike purchase, so that Stegy below could have some competition.  His name is Dragon of Dragy.  He's kind of lame to be honest...
..Especially compared to STEGASAURUS-usually known as "Stegy".  He is our current favorite.  Notice that his horn and ears have been removed.  Quite rude.  Both of these compadres have "chew guard technology".  I guess the appendanges were guarded enough...
Stegy's favorite phrase is :"I have been roaming the earth for thousssaaaandddssss of years" :said in a really deep voice:  Stegy is the coolest.
This is our current holiday favorite: the gingerbread man, also known as "Gingy" or "Big Brown" (sorry for the weird shadow, didn't notice it til after I uploaded). Gingy is Milly's great friend, because he's not particularly tough, but Milly has not made any attempts to rip him open at all. They just hang out together.
This bone is not any ordinary bone.  It is "sassy bone" because, obviously, it is sassy with it's leopard print self. It's also special because it's rubber material on the inside, so it's really tough and is not easily bitten through, especially for little mouths like Milly.
Blue Elephant: this guy was the favorite until Stegy came into the picture.  Now he's kind of a back-up. Like when Stegy has plans with Dragon that night, she'll go play with Blue as a back-up and just think about how she'd rather be hanging out with Stegy instead.  It's sad.  It's particularly entertaining when Milly trots off with this guy in her mouth because of his shape.
FINALLY, the infamous mallard duck.  We have at least three of these, because Mike kept buying her more until he realized she would soon bankrupt him.  True to her spaniel instincts, she kills these guys within the day, as you can see by this lil guy's face that I tried to place back together for the picture.

Milly is so lucky to have so many great friends!!

Snowed In!

The snow in Richmond turned out to be kind of a let down. It managed to put a major damper on my Christmas, but only got me a 1.5 hour delay at the office!

Meanwhile, In Queens,NY....

Yup, they got 20 inches of snow and "blizzard" conditions.  The first two are of the front sidewalk with Mike's awesome shoveling skills on display. The third is his back yard (notice the partial fence showing) and the last one is not the best quality, but shows the best how high the snow is piled up if you compare it to the car in the driveway.  Mike is still stuck there, and will probably be heading back tomorrow.  We've been manning the fort down here in the South, and it's been tough, lemme tell ya.

Look at Milly doing her best sad face: (note the tears)

We can't WAIT for you to get home (just in time for New Year's Eve!)

White Christmas

Well folks, I had two firsts this Christmas. One: it is definitely white. It's set to snow several inches in the next 24 hours. Two: it's the first year i've been working and therefore actually had to worry about being in town this coming week.
Due to the increasingly ominous reports from the trusty people over at the Weather Channel, we decided I should just drive back to Richmond this afternoon to avoid enduring one of those 10-hour drives back going 30mph.
Here's what we DID get to enjoy of Christmas-time in North Carolina before rushing back up to VA:

Milly got to pose with stuffed creatures, which I think may have been a little scary, but she also got to rip an empty wrapping paper holder to shreds, along with some wrapping paper and bows. FUN!

We also had to take some obligatory pics after Church on Christmas eve:

Merry Christmas from Natalie & Milly!

Message from Milly

Hello Loyal Readers,
As all of you know, my mom has been PRETTY bad about updating this site.  In the last month, she's been really busy. I'm not sure what she's been doing, but she has to get dressed up every day and she's away from home A LOT more than she used to be.  Luckily, Mr. Mike has been taking really good care of me during the day.  I actually like it better when he's around because he gives me lots of tum-rubs and treats.  We also like to take naps together.
Anyways, I decided to take matters into my own hands, because I know most of you come here to see what I've been up to and, let me tell you, I've done LOTS of cute things that have gone undocumented.

I've noticed recently that it takes my mom a really long time to get ready to take me out. I try to remind her that she needs to hurry by spinning in circles and yapping at her, but she doesn't really listen.  She just keeps putting on more and more layers of clothes. I'm not sure what her problem is. I think it feels GREAT outside.  A few weeks ago there was a bunch of white stuff on the ground, and she was especially grumpy about going out then.  She would always rush me when we went outside, but it is harder to sniff out the good stuff when the ground is covered with the white cold!

Recently, I've been really excited because we keep having visitors.  At Mr. Mike's house, we had a new person come and stay with us for a few days.  She seemed familiar, so I think she must have been related to Mr. Mike.  She was fun and it was nice to have someone new to cuddle up with and give me attention. I don't get nearly enough attention.
As if that weren't exciting enough, we then got in the car and went home to North Carolina.  I really like being here because there is a lot more house to explore, and I can sneak off to "forbidden" rooms and sometimes people don't notice for awhile.   There are also a lot more squirrels, birds, and grass here, which is really fun.  I get to go on A LOT of walks while I'm here too, and I get more people food than usual.  It's an all around good time.

I haven't learned how to upload pictures yet, but I'm hoping Mom will do that soon.  People keep talking about this thing called "Christmas" and making a big fuss over it, so maybe she will take some pictures then.

Big wet kisses to all over you out there!

Love,
Milly

Happy Thanksgiving!

Milly's found her seat at the table and is waiting for her Thanksgiving feast to be served to her. I think she may be slightly disappointed.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving holiday!

A Royal Engagement!

I can't explain to you how excited I am for this Royal Wedding!! As one who likes following celebrity gossip, I am especially intrigued by the combination of celebrity and royalty that is the British Royal Family (is that what they're officially called? The whole England/Britain/whatever thing confuses me. Melissa?)  All I know is that his names is "William of Wales" aka WoW, which I think is really awkward.  I think at "university" he went by Will Wales.

I've always thought Kate Middleton would be a great match for William, as well as have what it takes to be Princess/Queen.  Aside from the royal aspect, I think this is especially exciting because we have all been waiting for it for SO LONG.

Anyways, from this moment on I'm officially obsessed with any William/Kate gossip/coverage.  I hate to associate myself with the masses of Londoners and reporters (like the one on ET last night-some woman named Kate who just comes off as being a royal stalker) who say the silliest things, but I just can't help myself. I'm also fascinated by imagining how much thought goes into every little thing. Just for their engagement interview, I question how many dresses she went through, and who all approved her attire before they settled on the one she wore.  Every celebrity is in the spotlight, but for some reason this gets more attention than almost any celebrity out there, and I can't pinpoint exactly why that may be. I suppose it's part our innate, subconscious interest in the unattainable royalty.  Anyone can become a celebrity, but if you're not born into the royal family, your chances are over---except through marriage.  Maybe that is why we are so fascinated by their impending wedding.

The thing I am most excited to see is her dress (of course).  I'm not looking forward to all of the guessing by all of the media of what she will do, which will of course all inevitably be wrong, but I can't wait for the dress.  I'm sure there will be excessive media coverage, and I plan on waking up at whatever hour of the night necessary to see it live.  I may even have a Royal Wedding Sleepover Party!  I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Breaking News: Milly Gets Attention

I've had to be away from Milly a lot more than I'd like lately due to my current job, but I know that she's a happy camper because Mr. Mike has been a major trooper in helping me take care of her. Since he has a varying schedule being in school, he's been amazingly helpful in taking her out during the day and making sure she gets plenty of tum-rubs and T-R-E-A-Ts.
He found some time to take some pics of her:

Sorry if the belly shot is too sensual for anyone's sensitive eyes. Hey, it's just Milly being Milly. I'm not familiar with any blurring technology I can use on my pictures.

As a bonus, I caught Milly in quite a predicament as she was trying to investigate a grocery bag and got a little trapped. I had time to grab the camera and take this cause she couldn't figure out how to get out.

Richmond Spiders

This is a week late, but I wanted to document the one University of Richmond football game we were able to make it to this season.  We picked a good one-JMU vs. UR.  It was a pretty good game (it kept my attention for like, 60% of the time, which is pretty high for me).  We ended up winning in overtime.
I took my camera our for 5 seconds to take pictures to "document", so they are not very good, but a good post needs some pictures.
It was our first time seeing the new UR stadium, which is a vast improvement from the old one to say the least.

The best part of the game...the popcorn football. It's now on the baker's rack in the kitchen on display like a trophy.

Backstreet's Back!...on Oprah

The Backstreet Boys were briefly on Oprah today as part of a "Where are They Now?: Teen Heartthrob Edition".
As many of you who actually read this blog likely know, I was literally obsessed with "BSB" for the majority of my awkward years.  I'd say from about 6th grade-11th grade, with dwindling enthusiasm.
I kind of forgot they existed for the most part, and I felt extremely awkward watching them today. Almost like a second-hand embarrassment for my former self.
First of all, I felt like I should be calling my mom to request that she tape their appearance for me (cause I'd be at school, duhhh) on a specifically designated VHS tape, on which I recorded all of their appearances.

I was able to make the following observations:

1-Brian was always my favorite, and he says THE most awkward things of any of them. He's just cheesy.  This probably explains a lot about my awkwardness.

2-Nick seems to be going through a "skinny phase". You can never be too sure with him. Go Nick!

3-Kevin is so monotone and smug looking. I almost think that he didn't actually agree to be on the show and they just sedated him, but then I remembered that he was always like that. Ugh,  he's my least favorite for sure

4-Howie was pretty much non-existent as always.

5-AJ appeared to not be on any drugs, but then again he was wearing sunglasses. It was always rumored the Howie was the closeted gay one (a requirement for a boy band), but I'm starting to lean towards AJ. AJ was always my second favorite though. Not sure why.

They then sang "I Want It That Way".  I can't believe there was a time when this was not only a favorite of teenage girls, but of the entire country when it was a #1 hit.  Crazy. I guess  this may be my first moment of "I can't believe we used to like this" and "I can't believe I was one of those weird girls". I still remember the words to all of their songs though, including the little side comments they always make during them in their live performances. Sad. Very sad.

Oh and apparently they have a new CD out? Who did the PR for this? They showed a clip of the new music video and the backdrop was a graffiti filled wall and they were still doing choreographed dance moves.  I guess they're trying to be more "edgy".  I'd still say the song of theirs that can stand the test of time is "The Call", and is kind of the boyband pre-cursor to Lady Gaga's "Telephone".  I remember that video was pretty "controversial" for them when it came out.  Good times.

Ok, I think I've taken a long enough trip down memory lane. I feel awkward just reminiscing about it.

Happy Halloween!!

Mike was in charge of Halloween this year and I knew that he would certainly make it interesting. He found Tig & Pooh on Ebay and I made Piglet from a plain pig costume I got at Petsmart. Because we are so cool, we were a pretty big hit at Maribeth's Halloween Party (Margot Tennenbaum picture above). I think was the first time in my adult Halloween career that I didn't wear some version of animal ears, a tail, and all black clothing. We also lucked out because it was about 40 degrees outside that night so we were actually more comfortable outside while most of the girls dressed in "Girl World" costumes (Mean Girls reference) were shivering.
As usual, Milly was the hit of the party and we were just the side show.
To get in the Pooh spirit, I've been perusing some "Poohisms".  I found one that I think I need to remember in relation to that sometimes obstinate Tigger:
"If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient, it may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear."

Today is the big trick-or-treating day for our street with over a thousand kids expected to come through. We're not going to be as ambitious as we were last year with the candy giving, but we definitely plan on people watching later.

Happy Halloween and as far as American consumers are concerned, welcome to the Holiday Season!

Wine Tasting

This weekend my friend/college roommate Kathryn came to visit me from Atlanta.  She was attending a friend's wedding in Williamsburg and stayed with me.

Our whirlwind Saturday began with a wine tasting get together put on my the Junior League at New Kent Winery.  I probably wouldn't have normally ventured out to this event (since it's a whopping 20 mile drive from Richmond and all), but it is about half way between Richmond and Williamsburg so it was perfect for us.

I had (sadly) only been to one wine tasting before, which was during our graduation week at Sweet Briar.  This vineyard is newly open (2008) and is part of a large development in the country of New Kent County.   The grounds and buildings were really beautiful and took me back to my Sweet Briar days, and the rural beauty that Virginia is so famous for.

A lovely mid-western couple who were randomly also there wine tasting were kind enough to take some pictures of us in between talking about the Ohio State game and how much they loved merlots.

After we ate lunch out on the porch we headed on to a great afternoon in Williamsburg.

Perfect fall weekend and we were so happy to get to see Kathryn for a few days!

Quick! Play Possum!

I had just taken Milly on her after dinner "poop walk" and unfortunately, I must always pick it up because we are in the city.
Unfortunately, Monument Ave neglects to put trash cans anywhere NEAR or along their street, making it necessary for us to carry Milly's precious gifts up two flights of stairs and out unto the back staircase that leads to the most SKETCH-TASTIC alleyway ever known to man where we (aka Mike) must go every so often to take out the trash.  (This works out well for me because I'm not "allowed" to set foot in said alley way for fear of being attacked by the homeless men that frequent our vicinity-darnnn I really like taking the trash out too.)

We have a bag that we collect said poops in, where we allow them to "ferment", much like a fine wine, for a few weeks before we add them to the trash on said "trash trips". As much as I'd LIKE to take on this job, Mike usually does this because he is always the one taking the trash (remember, it's for safety).  We're pretty sure the neighbors that we share a staircase with really appreciate this process, but we don't really have any other options.

Moving on....it was a crisp Autumn evening tonight, just around dusk, when I open the back door to deposit poop bag. Who do I have greet me but THIS LIL CREEPER:

Yeah! I was about 6 inches away from an opposum!! (Wikipedia states that the spelling is interchangeable, but I want my mom to know I know that correct way).

I freaked out and slammed the door and peered through the blinds at it. It just looked at me. Naturally, my immediate next thought after my safety was documenting it.  I couldn't get a picture through the window, so as it creeped down the steps (this has been a good minute at this point-he was going nowhere fast) I opened the door just a bit and snapped a quick picture.  I risked my life for the purposes of this blog.  That's dedication.

Since I'm a little rusty on my marsupials/garbage creatures, I quickly googled to make sure I was referring to the right animal.

Here are a few fun facts on possums I learned from Wikipedia:

-The first ones were found in Virginia in 1610 (naturally)

-"Playing Possum" is something that their body does involuntarily when they since danger and involves them pretending to look dead and emitting bad smells. They can do this for hours.

-They used to be a popular meat option, and many recipes called for them in The Joy of Cooking.

-Luckily, they are 8x less likely to have rabies than a dog. I'm not really sure how this fact is true, but I'm not going to doubt you Wikipedia, though so many do.  I believe in you.

I had obviously seen these little guys before, but never so up close! It was like being at the zoo. A really really cheap zoo where they put creatures they can find around their house and place them in captivity for profit.
At least I kept him from getting into our secret stash! He'll probably be back tonight. He didn't seem too scared of humans. He is probably a pet of some homeless guy that lives somewhere around here.

I'm pretty sure that I felt a lot more like "playing possum" that he did. Another craaazzzyyy day in the adventures of Milly.

MOOCH!!

This post name stems from Mike's new nickname for Milly.  It can only be written in all caps because it can only be exclaimed in an excited, loud tone.

Tonight, Milly laid in this position in my lap while watching TV. It started out as a typical tum-rub, but she totally zonked out for 20 minutes in this position before waking up and looking at me like "hey, why did you stop rubbing my tummy?"

I love my Mill.

Milly's Great Escape

On several occassions now, Milly has broken out of her crate while we are gone.  I think it usually stems from her being angry that she is in her crate in the first place because she thinks that we just put her in there and we are not leaving (aka when someone takes FOREVER to get out the door).  She basically bangs on the door with her paw until she knocks the gate off of its not so sturdy hinges.

I don't think she has actually ever done any damage on these occassions, which leads me to believe we could actually leave her out in the house while we are gone as long as the house is clean.  I have tried leaving her out in the bedroom before (where her crate is), but she kind of freaks out and scratches at the door. I'm sure she'd calm down and get used to it, but the door may not appreciate this process.  She actually really likes her crate, and often goes in there on her own accord to take naps etc.   We might test the waters with letting her roam free though.

Here she is cackling about how she outsmarted us:

J/K...I caught her yawning, but this might be the funniest picture I have of her

And finally...one with her hero...

*tum-rub?, tum-rub?, can I get a treat? I'll lick your ear...*

Things I'm Loving Right Now

1-The fact that Ukrop's freshly makes me bagels and then pre-slices them for me. It's the little things. (I generally choose Everything bagels, because they are plain bagels, but you feel more healthy because there are lots of little seeds on top making it "different")

2-Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese. It's slightly more work to make, but WELL worth it (I don't bake it because I don't have the proper dish, but you have that option and I feel like that would make it even better).

3-The fact that Milly has taken to sleeping in my lap a lot more often than she used to.

4-Quints by Surprise (new show on TLC) It's like J&K+8, but less yelling & anger/hair plugs and Ed Hardy.  If anyone else watches it, do you have any idea how she is so skinny? I saw her wearing a bikini in one episode...I think we all remember the "front butt" Kate Gosselin episode pre-tummy tuck.  Do you think she got a tummy tuck?

5-The days when it is cool/rainy and I can break out some of my fall gear. I have missed it. These days are VERY few and far between.

6-Friends. Old and New.

7-Making the effort to drive the extra few miles to get Chick-fil-a back into my life. I forgot how glorious it is.

8-Having my Nook phone app to use when I am bored in a public place.

9-Chapstick. Lots of Chapstick.

10-My DVR and my On Demand.

The Palmetto State

Last week I took off Thursday and Friday to make the trek down to South Carolina to meet my parents at the beach.  For the majority of our summers, we have gone to Wild Dunes at Isle of Palms near Charleston,SC.  This year, we stayed in a condo near the beach, since we knew that Andrew would not be able to come and we were just going to be there for a long weekend.

Here's the view from the top balcony.  Basically the only picture I thought to take the whole time:

It was mostly relaxing, except for the time that we realized one of my tires was visibly low and that the cause of it was my tire pressure taker thingy had broken off inside the cap.  Not good.  Two hours and mucho dinero later I had two new pressure sensors and was good to go.

Unfortunately, Milly could not come on the trip.  I was forced to leave her with her least favorite person ever, as is clearly evidenced by this picture of her in distress.

It's a little blurry, but I think the agony and fear clearly comes across...
Actually, I think this face says more of a mix of "He's mine bi-atch" and "I know I can get whatever I want".
Which leads me to my minor complaint that though I know Milly had a GRAND time spending some one-on-one time with Mr. Mike, I now have to deal with her new habit of whining/barking/circus dog two-leg walking at the area of the counter where she knows the basket with her treats is.  It's almost as if she's wondering why it's 12pm and she hasn't gotten her first bone of the day yet.  Weird.

I always love Charleston, and wish that I had more time to spend down there.  I'm hoping that Mike and I can make it down there sometime soon (and by soon I mean like, the next year and a half-I have to keep my expectations reasonable).

10 Things I Hate about Being a "Grown-Up"

It's been about 1.5 years since I graduated, and I've learned a lot about doing things for myself, but that doesn't mean I haven't gotten increasingly annoyed along the way.

1-People who are dumb making my life more difficult.  I shouldn't have to explain things to people about THEIR job.  I also shouldn't have to spend 20 minutes calling you because you make a mistake.

2-Health Insurance. No, actually I didn't buy health insurance so you can call everything a "pre-existing condition" just because I switched health insurance. No, its going to be a little difficult to get you continuing coverage letters for the last year since the laws say that I had to have separate health insurance for the 3 months of summer before I went back to school last August as a full-time student and then was able to switch back onto my dad's.  I literally shudder at the thought of how much more messed up it will get in Obama's hands.  Let's hope we can stall him for the next two years.

3-Car Problems.  I really find it a big imposition to even put gas in my car. I wish a little leprechaun would jump out and do it for me while I sleep at night (I hear from certain individuals that I essentially can get this service once I obtain a husband, especially if I drive circles around the neighborhood until it's low enough).  You can thus imagine how annoyed I feel when something actually goes wrong with my car or it needs service.  Even more inconvenient is the fact that I have to take it in on a Saturday morning.  I'm hoping this improves now that I have rid myself of my high maintenance car.

4-Landlords. I could write a novel on how awful ours is, but at least she fixes our problems (even if they are always "our fault"). I can't imagine how awful some people have it with the slumlords who leave your apt flooded for a week etc.  Let's just say it'd be really helpful if mine had an American accent and I couldn't see her back fat from her open sari whenever she came over.

5-Grocery Shopping. I actually really like picking out food cause, duh, I love eating, but I wish I could increase the laziness factor expontentially and just pick it out from say my living room.  I try to make a point in going at off hours, but who wants to carry groceries to your door at night.  I get frustrated at the annoying people who leave their carts in the aisle, or look at the food by standing exactly in the middle of the aisle as if no one else is around.  In my part of town, there are also the fan rats who smell, look a mess, and complain about the lack of vegan food and ask their friend if "they can just go to trader joe's". Yeah, cause trader joe's is reallll hipster. Then there is the self-checkout, which I prefer because I avoid human interaction and, in the case of Ukrop's Martin's, the awkward walk to my car with the bagger.  However, self-checkout technology has not accounted for the reusable bag.  This is annoying and makes me feel retarded when really it is the incompetency of the system.

6-Street Parking.  This one is unique to me because I live in the city and have to park on the street.  I'm a pretty fearless parallel parker at this point (just creep until you feel a tap, then you know its times for the opposite direction), but as usual its the OTHER people that annoy me. Mainly the fan rats who are living 8 to a tenament apartment and have their beat up, decal ridden hoopty's leave little space for me to park.  It's also sad when the best time to get a space is about 4:30 and 10:30 at night cause that it either when they go to their restaurant jobs or go "out" to do Lord knows what.

6-Paying Bills. No, not the actual losing of the money. That's obvious. I mean the actual act of paying the bills. It's time consuming and annoying.  I need a leprechaun to do that too (or someone with a Masters in Accounting who will also put gas in my car). Know of anyone?

7-No Summer. Seriously summer, you mean nothing to me except you make me feel hot all the time and raise my AC bill.  I haven't gone on a bonafide, legitimate vacation in two summers.  I had a total of three days laying out. My "tan" is what most people look like in, ehhh, October.  This also includes lack of time off. No more "mental health days" after college. Or if you do take them, it's gonna cost ya (and probably only worsen your mental health)

8- Cooking.  This is especially hard when you have a non-functioning kitchen. I pretty much stick to boiling water, oven use, and microwave use.  I long for the days of my kitchen being clean, new, full of counter space, and containing a big, beautiful mixer.  It's a hard knock life being in between a real house and college dining hall.  Let's just say that my view of what constitutes a "dinner" has changed.

9-Making Appointments. Dr's appointments. Dog Appointments. Car Appointments. Repairmen Appointments. Meetings.  Making them and keeping them-I'd rather not do it, thanks.

10-Responsiblity.  I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on this one, and this is the one that is truly the worst.  I've noticed that a lot of people my age have still not really gotten ahold of this concept yet, and there's no sight of them really grapsing it in the near future.  It's the whole notion of being accountable for your actions and actually taking the reigns on your life. It's not waiting around for other people to do things for you, but doing them yourself.  Most importantly, it's DOING THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO DO.  It kills me when people complain about this (ok, I sometimes often complain, but I complain and then do it anyways. See the difference there?). I see it so often. People who would literally rather live a horrible life than do anything they don't want to. How much longer til they figure it out? It's a lot harder, but it feels pretty great.

RHofNJ Reunion Part II

Okay, I have to admit that even though I was obviously excited for the second hour of this train wreck, it actually kind of got old as the show went on. They are all a little cooky (except of course for Caroline who is a goddess) and just watching side-step questions and be the victim got a little old.
She did still provide some humor though:

A-As I said, Danielle needs to learn how to lie better. Caroline is "lying" about her friend seeing her drive around Franklin Lakes, but we see Danielle's daughters telling her that "it's not a good idea" to just drive by one of their parties, when Danielle claims "oh, i'm not going to stop I just want to drive by and look".  Yeah, you stalk them every day Danielle, even your daughters admit it.

B-Danielle trying to deflect attention off the fact that she has questionable video tapes/gets around by now claiming to be a lesbian.......ok.

C-The hair pulling demonstration.  She brings in a wig to show how "hard" Ashley would have had to pull to get her weave out.  It ends up just proving that she's lying, because you can tell that Andy has to pull MUCH harder than Ashley did to get the hair out.

Also, Kim G. is psycho. Again, she's the queen of playing both sides and sadly that is way too close to reality for a lot of women in social circles.

Caroline should be the one becoming a lawyer instead of her son Albie (I say "becoming" loosely since he flunked out). She is the only one who just calmly but firmly demands that Danielle not lie to her. Pretty fantastic if you ask me.

Caroline makes me proud at the end because she keeps it real.  She doesn't all of a sudden forgive Danielle and do a fake hugging it out at the end.  How creeepppyyyy was that? That's exactly what I would do. Say "sorry, but I'm not going to participate in this BS", or "I'm no dummy" as Caroline says.

Gah Caroline, you are so cool.

PS-could it be?? There's more footage being shown next week? Whaaattttt....

Mily's Photoshoot

This past weekend Milly and I went home to North Carolina to hang out with the fam.  We had a great time and Milly was EXHAUSTED when we got home due to the excessive walks and constant attention (neither of which she is used to).

Can't get enough Milly pics!

RHofNJ Reunion Recap

On Monday night, the greatly anticipated Reunion Part I episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey aired, and it did not disappoint.  It was the highest grossing episode of any of the Real Housewives seasons.

I know I'm in the majority when I say that Danielle is one of the scariest people of any of the Real Housewives casts.  I mostly think her insane perspective on reality is pretty hilarious, but all too often her antics actually get to the point of getting me kind of angry/frustrated.
I think this is because I have known people in my own life to blantantly lie about things that are obviously untrue and to manipulate friends into liking her while she uses them and then discards them when she is done with them by becoming "the victim".  She also has a really high opinion of herself and just sat there the whole episode, which i'm sure she thinks makes her "the better person" but in fact really creeped me out.

My favorite NJ housewife is by far Caroline Manzo.  One she realized what "garbage" Danielle was she made a point of not interacting with her instead of picking fights.  When she did confront her in the last episode, she had a very eloquent speech prepared, and she had some great comebacks for Danielle.  Unfortunately, you can never really accomplish anything with Danielle because she just starts to fake cry and then get up and leave the room because "she doesn't deserve to be attacked".
I've liked Caroline ever since she used the term "thick as thieves" to describe her bond to her family, but in the last two episodes she has become my role model (in the world of RH casts anyways).

Of course, the highlight of the episode was Teresa freaking out and pushing down Andy (the host) and getting in Danielle's face.  The most hilarious part was Danielle chanting "Amazing Things and New Beginnings" repeatedly.  It's her new addition to chanting "Love & Light". Who comes up with this stuff?? It's always the instigators that pretend like they're all about peace and harmony.

The highlight for me was Caroline telling off Danielle for crashing the charity event at her "family's place of business" the Brownstone, and telling her that she thinks her children have no light in their eyes (I wouldn't use that wording but its very true-they did not get a childhood and often have to give their mother advice on how to behave).  She is great at telling people what no one else will say to her face, and also staying calm so that Danielle can't claim she is being "attacked".  I look forward to next week when Caroline points out that Danielle has put out threats on all of them, and none of them have ever truly threatened her.

On another note, if you watch the show you know that Albie Manzo got kicked out of law school for bad grades.  Mike & I (ok mainly me) were hoping that he would show up at UR Law to start his 1L year over.  After Mike's first day of classes he tried to convince me for a good 5 minutes that Albie was at school today, and I kind of started to believe him and got excited about my plan to become friends with him so we can find out all of the show's dirt.  He was making it up though :( so sad.  Even UR doesn't want lil Albie.  At least he can be a police officer...

This post really had no point.  More pointless banter next week after Part II airs! Hooray!

Weekend Update

For once, I had an eventful weekend! On Friday, I finally got my new car. The first one that is "mine" that I got on my own.  For the sake of anonymity, I won't say on here what I got, but if you actually are VIP, I'll be happy to tell you all about it.  I'm mainly just happy to finally have an SUV again.

We hung out with our peeps on Friday.  This was Mike's only weekend of "vacation" before school starts back up on Monday, so he "lived it up".

On Saturday, our friends the Holmans' had their housewarming party, and they were gracious enough to let us bring Milly because A) people usually look forward to Milly's presence more than Mike or mine and B) I wanted her to be able to run around in their fenced in backyard.

And run around she did!

Now we're excited to start up football season!
Good luck on your last year of law school Mike! Only 338 days til the Bar (not that I'm counting)!
